It's more what you can see that counts, not what you hear from asking.

Check the cockpit floors for signs of sponginess, run from the deal if
yes because the stringers will be suspect also.

Check the hull and deck for stress cracks in the gel coat. They will
indicate either a point of weakness or previous damage; particularly
serious if in, or around, the transom.

Insist on a sea trial. Listen to the engines start and watch the
exhaust smoke. Do the gauges work? Check oil pressure under full
load and again at idle. Is everything smooth and vibration free?

Check all electrical gear, horn, lights, radio, windshield wipers,
depth sounder, GPS, etc.

If you still like the boat after all that, get it professionally
surveyed.
