The boat also mysteriously disappears whenever he is asked about it's
location. Yesterday he said this:

"Better hurry, though. She'll set to be splashed any day now and then run
down to Solomons Island."

Notice the use of the words "any day now". If you were to go there today
to look for it his excuse would be that she was put in yesterday.
