Nice comparison between the two different builders..

When did Grand Banks ever build a 40?
(Thought you had me, diden cha) :-)
The GB has some advantages. The interior is nicely done on the
Mainship- but GB continues to be a leader in that field. As you would
expect, the 40 Mainship is roomier than the 36 GB, but not as roomy the
42. Mainship uses polished aluminum in a few non critical applications
where GB would probably use stainless, and there are some additional,
mostly minor differences. Boaters placing a lot of emphasis on the size
and amenities associated with the flybridge would more often give the
nod to Mainship in this category. I think the base price on the 40
Mainship is about $200k less than the base on a 36GB, so the Mainship
represents a very good value. Resale will probably be better on a GB,
but if you are only recovering a portion of the additional amount you
had to spend in the first place that's not as much a slam dunk
advantage as it might first appear.
Vast hordes of boaters are not likely to conclude that the Mainship is
clearly superior to the Grand Banks, but the comparison between a
10-year-old 36 GB and a new Mainship 40 for somewhere near the same
price point deserves some careful attention. IMO.
