All kidding aside, it sure is too bad that they can't figure out that
this newsgroup is not that important to world peace or whatever.

Quite. It's a source of fun and banter - apres-race ****takes and debate in
the yacht club bar is a good analogy.

I just don't get it.

It's about LP getting back at Katysails over some dumb flame war.

It really does bother me, however, that they're resorting to
cross-posting and attempting to get help from those jerks that tried
to really destroy the newsgroup a year or so ago.

Yup, LP and Katysails have some pathetic hissy fit, so LP calls in a bunch
of boot-boys and has the whole bar trashed.

I just don't see the justification except in their juvinile minds.

That's because there is none beyond that. Neal might play the trolling,
opiniated mouthpiece, but he's often done so with some humour; and LP played
some flirtatious floosie, who I could quite happily take or leave - just a
bit player as far as I was concerned.

I think what we've seen here is a game of "Let's you and him fight", between
Neal and Katy, instigated by LP. LP couldn't give Katy a good enough kicking
on her own, so she got Neal to do it for her, and in such a way as to force
Katy's hand (ie, do the netcop thing), knowing that, as soon as Katy
netcopped, LP would raise the flag for the flonkers to come in and trash the
bar. LP is basically making a big show of giving Katy a kicking because she
couldn't do it on her own, and all been played out on an unimportant virtual
stage where nobody else gives a toss about anything other than getting on
with the fun and banter they come here for. It's a load of pathetic
ego-wank.

I was pleased for Neal that he got some female company while out sailing for
a few days, but both he and LP have gone way down in my estimation after
this. Especially LP - she's gone from a bit-player to being spiteful,
vindictive and more than willing to **** everybody off because she can't
deal with a stupid personal flame war (the justification of 'protecting free
speech' is nothing more than a smokescreen for that - that might be where
the flonkers are at, but it wasn't what LP was using them for). Neal would
do well to step away from this person for a while and consider the results
of his part in this. I don't think the nett gain can be described as
positive.

As I said to LP in another post, all we really have here is personas.
Outside of those we've met in real life, we don't really know the person
behind the poster. In spite of that, I've often wondered who I would go for
a sail with if I ever found myself on the other side of the pond. For all
his invective, Neal was one of them - but not in the present climate.
