To say you've sailed the 'Mighty Gulf Stream' is like Ganzy saying he is
just a 'little' gay. Neither one is reflective of the truth.

As the Gulf Steam passes the keys, it is serene. Just a current, nothing
more.

As the Gulf Stream enters the North Atlantic and heads to Europe, that is a
different story. The warm water of the stream set against the cold waters
in the North Atlantic make for an evil combination. This is where the
reputation of the stream comes from, not from the subtropics where you were
sailing.

In the more northerly latitudes, the differences in water temp set up
eddies, and actually can produce it's own weather. Fierce storms are
common, and big winds, when set against the 3 knot current, can produce
uncomfortable wave shapes and patterns.

I have sailed the REAL Gulf Stream, where it matters... in the North
Atlantic. More than once.

Only wannabes would brag about sailing in the Stream in the sub tropics once
(Or in Neal's case Once Upon a Time). Geez.
