Not so! I have an external outhaul. It is a four-block purchase outhaul.
One should avoid interal lines at all cost.

What is an "external" outhaul? The outhaul is the line attached to
the clew of the mainsail. It runs through the boom.

It depends on the boat. The catalina 27 has an external outhaul. The
bad thing is that you have to leave the cockpit to adjust the tension.
