Actually there are a number of self-labelled 'conservatives' who regularly
pollute this newsgroup with exactly such statements.

I don't believe that for a second. The only people who listen to Rush Limbaugh
for more than a few moments are people who are either 1- hypnotized by his

The "talking heads" are in the
business of generating an audience and pushing hot buttons. It does not
matter if you agree or disagree as long as you listen.

For commercial purposes, sure. For political purposes, it maintains or increases
the current atmosphere where news is "fair & balanced" if it panders to the
right wing fantasy dwellers, and character assassination is praised as
campaigning.
