Outboard bracket installation
I am trying to install a garelick outboard bracket model 71090 on the back
of my 21' Fiberform. The brackets adjustment handle wants to hit the transom
and not allow for the adjusting of the mount. The directions say that "a 1
inch shim of suitable material between the transom and the bracket to allow
the full aft motion of the release handle". I did some measuring and I will
need almost 2" of shim.
My first question is what would be recomended as the "suitable material"? I
went to Garelicks web site and of course they have a 1 inch extension shim.
I was thinking of using a industrial grade polymer cutting board and
stacking 2 1 inch sheets cut to a little over the mounts footprint.
My second question is would there be a problem with a 2" shim rather than a
1"?
Since I just purchased a new 4 stroke motor and do not want to see it "deep
six" as well as not cause damage to my transom, you can see my dilema.
Thanks in advace. Tim
