That's all true but both my old boat and new boat have power selector
switches on the distribution panel that provide just the sort of
exclusive selection that you speak of. Perhaps our use of terminology
is different. I'm using "distribution panel" to describe the area
where all AC control switching takes place, not just the breaker bus.
