Default Trolling motor on a 21 foot boat?

I have a 21 foot boat with a mercruiser. Very close to the house, we
have a forest preserve with a nice little lake. The trouble is, they
do not allow gasoline motors to be operated. I might consider buying a
trolling motor to troll around. The question is, is a trolling motor
enough to push a 21 foot boat against wind? Mine does not have a very
high profile, it is a cuddy cabin type of boat.

How much do you want to spend? I have a 20 foot center console
with a T-top that is fairly heavy - the trolling motor took me ten miles
up the Thames River against the tide when my Evinrude lost the spark
timing. It's a 24 volt Motoguide Great White producing 67 pounds
of thrust - works great. Saved my butt on that trip.

It probably won't do well with a 12 volt 40 pound "special".
