Clean the rust off as best you can. I found a great assortment of small,
oddly shaped wire brushes for a Dremel tool on E-Bay, cheap, and very
handy for cleaning off the curves and pockets of the engine/manifold
casting.

Vacume up the mess.

Prime and paint with high temp paint.

Safety glasses and a mask are a good idea when using the Dremel
