Scotty,
At my age, I'm the one scoping out the best door to use if retreat is
necessary.
You know guys, I'm 78 yrs old and seen my share of brawls and you know
what? I can't seem to remember any winners. Losers I remember by the
scores
The one that holds 1st place was it 1943 in San Jose, Calif. Long before
Silicone Valley, I was 18 yrs old. Two buddies and I hitched a ride into
town. A town of transit farm workers, mostly Mexicans. The young
Americans were in uniforms. The three of use were looking over the
place when a Young sailor comes out of a Bar with a pretty Latino girl
on each arm and a smile from ear to ear. He had the world by the "nuts.
He took no more than two steps when two Guys step up to him and Cold
Cock him as pretty as you please. He couldn't get either arm up to
defend himself. There was a girl holding each arm.
Us young salty sailor carried our wallets slung over the top of our
pants. The navy "Bell Bottom" pocket was to small. The three of us ran
to help him but before we could reach him the girls and guys and his
wallet were flying down the street. He came around OK a much wiser young
man. In fact 4 wiser young sailors. That was the last time I ever
carried a wallet on Liberty. A money clip was my money keeper after
that.
My sea story for today!
Ole Thom
