Major hatch manufactures such as BOMAR use the term "Lens" when
describing their products. It's an industry term. It may (or may not)
be jargon, but it is legitimate usage. It's the term marine
professionals use.

Bob,

This is a proper
porthole:http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/i...00/i01577t.jpg

Any fleet sailor will tell you that if your shut this porthole the
glass reads "ARMORED GLASS" not armored lens. Boman sells product to
the Navy. The Navy is a stickler on proper nautical terms last timed I
checked.

Do you know what we call people from the town of Plano just

outside

of

Dallas?

Let me guess. Plano assholes?

During Footballs season maybe...mostly Plano People.

The plano lens is either convex-concave on one side and Plano

Flat on
the other. If just flat then it is not a lens. . That simple Max.
