I have a Truecharge 20 hooked up to 4 Trojan T-105's. I've had the
charger and batteries for 2 years now and have been very happy with it.
The only reason to go with the 40 amp in my opinion is if you need over
20Aamps to run your fridge or you want to be able to do a quicker
charge at the dock. For me, if we're at a dock, we'll be there at least
overnight in which case the Truecharge 20 gets the job done.

Another suggestion if you want to go cheap. You can find a place
that
sells golf cart batteries and string together 6 Volts. I bought 4
Trojan T-105s for $160.00 and they provide 440 amp hours.

I'm re-doing the 30 year old electrics on my boat.
I've bought the AC and DC power panels, etc.
Now is the time to think about the battery charger.
I like the the specs of the Xantrex Truecharge 20 Plus, but...
the specs suggest a battery size of 2 ea 4Ds or a 8D.
My plan is to toss in a couple (100 AH start, 100 AH house)
of flooded cell Group 31s for now, and later go to AGM
200 AH batteries when the boat kitty is well again.
Will this scheme work ya think? Will the XTC-20 work?
