We have a superb ginger beer here, Bundaberg.
Made by a guy who owned a deli and did his own for sale over the
counter.
Word got around and soon he was bottling the stuff and taking it into
Brisbane.
Bigger and bigger until he bought a disused bottling plant and set up
bigtime.
He now exports worldwide and is a mega millionaire, country bumpkin.
Still stays in the budget hotels and drives an ordinary car....cool
guy.

We were brought up brewing our own GB at home using real ginger.
Nothing tastes quite as good, though the Bundy is bloody close.

I love ginger beer but you only find it under deli labels here...grew up
on
Vernor's ginger ale, but that was back when they used to put real ginger
in
it...now it's synthetic (as if there's a shortage of ginger in the
world...)
When I lived in St Louis, I would have to import Vernor's from
Michigan...got 2 cases of it once for my birthday...still drink it but
it's
just not the same as it used to be...

What would you expect from up-side-downers who can't even make a root
beer float right?

Scotty

Root beer isn't common in Oz, not something we grew up with.
Ginger Beer OTOH is very popular.
