Unfortunately, I remember once when I had my 27 ft Catalina up for sale.
The switches were wired in such a way that it was possible to shut off the
bilge pump circuit from the inner-cabin.

I TOLD the sales-rep to be certain no one ever touched that switch.... ha!..
Came back after a very serious rainstorm and I found about a foot and a half
of water inside of the cabin. It was caused by the switch that was turned
off. Stupid me, I should have re-wired the switch when I bought her...

Anyhow.. from the outside.....you couldn't tell the boat had ANY water in
her even with 18 inches of water over the bilge. Lots of floating
capacity, not much weight...However, sal****er in contact with ANYTHING
metal is not a good thing.
