Be careful what you ask for because there are quite a few boats out
there that you really don't want passing at speed. If you want to be
passed with minimal wake, slow waaaay down, almost to a crawl before
the faster boat overtakes you. That way someone can go by you in a
reasonable length of time at "no wake speed" which is typically 6 to 7
knots for a larger boat.

If you continue to go 6 to 9 knots yourself, the faster boat has no
alternative but to follow, or throw a large wake. A heavy 50 footer
leaves very little wake at 7 knots, but 3 feet plus at 10 knots.

Yep. I leave almost no wake at ~6kts (idle), but if you force me to run
at 10kts to pass by you, you're definitely not going to like it.
