Play an active role in molding the laws that will have a direct impact on
the people who support you. Join the Congressional Boating Caucus!

One in every three Americans participates in boating, which means a great
number of your constituents are taking to the waterways, and are affected by
legislative issues surrounding recreational boating.

By way of background, the Boating Caucus consists of an informal, bipartisan
group of members of Congress concerned with issues affecting boating,
recreation and the marine industry. There are no dues or scheduling
requirements and in order to participate.

Among Boating Caucus goals a

- Supporting protection of the environment.

- Promoting recreational fishing, and uniformity of standards.

- Protecting boater access to public waterways.

- Ensuring sound science-based regulatory policies.

- Opposing the imposition of new taxes on marine-related goods and
manufacturing.

- Endorsing strict enforcement of laws prohibiting dangerous navigation,
including reckless and intoxicated operation.

The recreational marine industry provides jobs to over 500,000 skilled
employees, serving over 78 million Americans who participate in recreational
boating. In the United States alone, boaters spend nearly $25 billion
annually on boats and related products and services.

Organizations, including the National Marine Manufacturers Association
(NMMA), continue to proactively work to ensure that these workers and
recreational enthusiasts enjoy our natural resources responsibly and are
heard by their elected officials.

To join the Congressional Boating Caucus, please contact Christine Pollack
in Rep. Clay Shaw's office at 5-3026 or Wayne Weidie with Rep. Gene Taylor
at 5-5772.

I hope you will support your local businesses by joining the Congressional
Boating Caucus!
