had been troubling Patrick Lawler: a 10cm nail the construction worker
had unknowingly shot through the roof of his mouth six days earlier.

A nail gun backfired on Mr Lawler, 23, on January 6 while he was
working in a ski resort town in the Colorado mountains. The gun sent a
nail into a piece of wood nearby, but Mr Lawler did not realise a
second nail had passed through his mouth, embedded in his skull and
penetrated his brain.0
