We just couldn't keep the snobby Bostonians in the style they had become
accustomed to! Halifax was a garrison town/naval port....no place for
lace
hankies.


Washington was a gentlemen farmer from Virginia, he wasn't of the Boston
Snop Corps.


I would guess that even a pig farmer from the US would have found Halifax to
be as G. Washington described.
