It is not sand Katy. The plates bent and overlapped in places.
I also saw that many of the coral reefs were flattened. Some reefs will
take 1000's of years to get back to the way they were before the waves.
The new underwater ridges will in short time be great places to attract
fish ect.
To bad the tetonic plates did not break the surface of the Indian
Ocean. A new island to claim and start a new country would have been
cool.
