I and a friend are hoping to take part in the 2006 Devizes-Westminster -
in the Endeavor class.

Can anyone suggest where it might be possible to get a suitable boat
second-hand.

We live in Yorkshire- between Leeds and York.

A bit more info needed to find out what is 'suitable': What level are you at?

What experience do you have?

I have a fair bit of experience - I completed an almost 100 mile trip
last year,
and doing something similar this year.
My companion - it has been been a long time since he was canoeing.
Are you at a Club?

No, but we might join one that does this type of racing.
Any near Leeds ?. White Rose ?. Lower Wharfe does slalom I think.
What age / level of commitment etc?

We are both old - I will be 59, companion 61. It is a bit like a
geriatric's last gasp :-).
Most in the Endeavour class will be beginners and relatively
inexperienced,
thus needing a stable boat, not necessarily to K2 dimensions -
most racing boats would be unsuitable, but some more details of your
requirements might help...

"Comfortable" is key criteria.
I'm in favour of forwards planning - but do you intend to do the event
this year (2005), or did you really mean 2006?

I meant 2006, so that we could train and get used to the boat later this
year.
(I am doing a marathon and triathlon in spring this year.)
