Here is a picture of the oil that drained out of the gear box.

This is a recent picture

This is a picture from a few months ago. This looks like maybe 2 cycle oil
where as the other looks like it has water mixed with it.

The pan I drained it into wasn't as clean as it could have been but does
the color of the oil look like it has oil in it? I can't tell if it does,
but it does not look like it does other than the color.

Thanks again for all the help.

I have a 40 hp Force engine and it is leaking oil from between the prop and
carrier bearing housing assembly
http://coopscorner.com/takealook/carrier_assembly.htm

Can somone give me some hints on getting the carrier assembly off of the
lower gear caseing? Does it have little pins that it slides onto, does it
screw on, do i need a fancy wheel puller or do i need a big hammer and a
block of wood?

I have the 2 new oil seals, but I am wondering if there is an O ring that
is holding the carrier in place?

Thanks in advance for the help, it is very much appreciated....tom
