.. .
I just purchased a new 2005 Mercury 90HP 2-stroke outboard to replace
the 40HP engine on my 20ft pontoon.
The new engine did not come with a prop, so I am seeking
recommendations from the group.
I have not yet talked with a local Mercury dealer. I purchased the
engine online.
Thanks for any feedback that you can provide. I am interested in what
top-speed and the max RPM for the recommended prop.
Thanks.... Tim
So what does the online place recommend?
Are you going to buy the prop from the local guy, or just solicit advice
and warrantee service but buy the prop online too?

The online place (ebay auction), did not have a recommendation.
The nearest dealership just closed about a month ago. I have not
tried to track down where the next closest one is. Being that it is
December, and close to Christmas, I am not needing this prop
immediately. I live in North Carolina, and we do have winter here, so
it will be couple of months before I am able to install the engine.
I was hoping, as another poster mentioned, to work with the dealer to
try a couple of 'used' props with varying diameters and pitches, to
determine what size is the best before puchasing a new prop.
I am looking for help from the group to see if anyone was using my
combination, and use that as a starting point.
Thanks... Tim
