Rather than try to run all the way over there from Victoria, you can
launch
your boat from Vancouver, Gibsons, Garden Bay, or somewhere else on the
East
Side of Georgia Strait. Boating out of Victoria, proper, may offer you
fewer
interesting small boat options than launching at Sidney.

Maybe take the ferry boat over to the mainland from the Northern part of the
island. Then check out the Sunshine Coast on the way back down.
