The August 2003 issue of PassageMaker magazine has an interesting
article about the voyage of a 34-foot twin-screw trawler from
Gainsville, Floriduh to Hawaii using plastic jugs for fuel storage. They
experienced seas ranging from 3 to 12 feet. You can bet these folks know
their fenders from their bumpers.


I once knew a gal who got all the way to Hawaii, (all expenses paid)
based on her own plastic jugs. Will never know if it was only a single
screw, but it must have been a light displacement hull as she spent
only a day or two in the islands.
