Here anyway the usual requirement these days by insurance Cos etc is
that "acceptable" surveyors carry indemnity insurance. Hmm insurance
from & for the insurance:-)
Needless to say since that became the practice quite some years ago now
the wanna be's sort faded away, as they should.
