Subject: Boston Whaler or Grady White?
From: "NOYB"

This year, the trick was to get the tarpon up and revived
before a 15 foot hammerhead snatched him from you.

15 feet! Nice fish story.

Not a fish story. The shark is known locally by the name "Old
Hitler"...but
most people consider him to be around 18 feet...not 15 feet.

LOL, he's been know as "Old Hitler" for about 50 + years now.

If there really was just one "Old Hitler", that would not only make it
perhaps
the biggest hammerhead in the world but for sure the oldest. LOL

The joke I used to tell at Miller's was, you could tell which Hammerhead
was
the real "Hitler" by the O2 bottle he was carrying with him along with all
the
seeing eye Remoras.

This isn't some internet goofball bull****ting you.

The story I posted is not BS.

Magic Hook (aka--Capt.
Rick Featherstone) is one of the most respected guides in Southwest
Florida.
He's been on George Poveromo's ESPN2 show, and has lectured at Poveromo's
Salt Water Series Seminars. He's also co-authored articles in several top
fishing magazines.

Yeah, you're right, a fishing guide would never exaggerate a fish story.
LOL

"18' long, 5 or 6' wide hammer, body around the gills was about 4' thick.
Dorsal was 4'. I have no clue on weight but a wild guess is 800"

800lb?
Gee, he's only off by, oh, 800-1000lb or so. If the fish really was 18
feet
long that is.

Agreed.

Or, was the shark 15 feet or less and he was right on? :-)

But you disputed the 15'-shark-snatching-tarpon claim that I posted?

For what it's worth the worlds record Great Hammerhead was caught right
here in
Sarasota and it ONLY weighed 991lb.

You post seemed to make it out like 15 foot Hammerheads were an everyday
occurrence around here. But the fact is, sadly, they aren't.

I've personally seen a 12-footer cruising a wreck about 25 miles off of
Marco...and I've heard of several in the 12+ foot range snatching tarpon
from anglers off of FMB, and in Boca Grande Pass.
