I removed one of my boat stripes last year in a way similar to Rich's
suggestion. I used a hand-held hair drier right up against the stripe
for about 20 seconds. I could get about 2-4 inches off at a time. Took
a couple hours to do the whole boat (including breaks) but I didn't
have to buy or rent a heat gun. The stripe was standard vinyl from the
factory. Hope that helps!
