I like this quote from the sidebar:
"...A lie, Mr Speaker, in my understanding, is when you tell a

ahead and say it."

Another telling point is material gain... when you deceive another (or
large group of others) for the purpose of making a gain or profit, then
that is a despicable lie.

Why is it that those who decry the "lapse of public morals" don't seem
able to detect this particular type of lapse?
