Haggy, sure you can! Go down to your local KFC, stop at the super market
on the way there and
get a bag of fresh curds (I assume they are available, if not grated
mozzarella works pretty well),
once you get to KFC order a large fries and a tub of gravy, when you get
the fries sprinkle the cheese on top,
then pour the gravy over the whole lot, et voila, you have poutine.

I don't think I've ever seen cheese curd for sale anywhere around here and,
according to the many articles I read this morning, KFC or McDonalds isn't
the place to try it! It'll give me something to look forward to when we
visit Canada!

Your link was interesting, figures that the stuff would come from the
Eastern Townships, they speak a language there
which they claim to be french, but no Frenchman or Anglais trained in
french has ever been found that could understand
them.

I hear they speak french in Louisiana too!

Of course now the ultimate in disgusting poutine is the addition of mushy
peas, with a healthy sprinkling of vinegar, ketchup,
and mayonnaise, well actually it has to be Miracle Whip to be authentic.

Almost as delectable as the peas, mash, & ketchup on those meat pies!
