There are four ASA schools in Marina Del Rey (west side of Los Angeles):
Seamist-Skippers, Bluewater Sailing, California Sailing Academy and Marina
Sailing.

I can vouch for the first two schools. Both are very good and have a
wonderful fleet of charter boats too. They are easy to find on the web
(they are also listed on the ASA website).

Marina Sailing requires a membership, and their charter fees are higher than
Seamist-Skippers and Bluewater Sailing. However, they have charter sites in
San Diego, Newport Beach, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Marina Del Rey, and
Channel Islands (Oxnard). In addition, they have reciprocals with Santa
Barbara Sailing Center. That almost makes it worthwhile, especially since
the northern Channel Islands are a sailing paradise.

Santa Barbara Sailing Center is a nice place if you're in that area. My
wife and I go up there and rent boats for daysails from them every month or
so. They have an ASA school too.

There aren't many US Sailing schools around as far as I'm aware. Club
Nautique used to have an office in Marina Del Rey but they are gone now. In
San Diego there's J-World.

Have fun,

Brien
