legal trailer width
As I am considering building an F32 trailerable tri (yes, I know, it
will take a long time), I have been considering the wide design F32AX
version which is 9'8" wide. This is 1'2" more than the normal 8'6"
legal width. Now, both Kurt Hughes and Farrier both say permitting is
easy but is it really? I have done a little checking and find that
you need a seperate permit for each state. In FL, you can get a
"multi-trip" permit for only $20.00. You are supposed to notify the
authorities 3 days in advance of the trip but it does not specify if
this is required with the multi-trip permit.
I am beginning to wonder if the trailering part is practical on a
routine basis. Will I end up keeping her in the water all the time
exceept when travelling to a new place to cruise? Is the set-up time
of a 32' F-boat so extreme as to discourage sailing?
Anybody else have any experience with this.
