It's the same way with smoking cigarettes, a youngster will try one,
coughing and gagging and hating the taste. But he keeps trying
(studying) because he's been told it's the cool thing to do. So,
eventually, with enough study, he learns to like it, appreciate it,
need it, and then die from it.

"Bobsprit" wrote in message No? Perhaps you can

tell me
what famous European composer said the following?

"Not even a Chinaman can hum the melody of most Chinese

Classical."

It was one of Bernstein's favorite quotes and quite accurate, but

YOU know
better!

Actually it was featured on CBC.... unlike the USA we are privy to

global
music, news and programming. Just last week they had a 2 hour

program on
classical Japanese music and instruments.
