42 is the ANSWER to the Ultimate QUESTION of life, the universe and
everything. Earth was created to compute the question itself. That
question was revealed later to be "What do you get if you multiply six
by nine?"

Although Adams denies he was making a joke in base 13, it turns out
6*9=42 in base 13.
