I delivered a Caliber 47 from Seattle to San Francisco a few years ago. It's
a comfortable boat down below. It handled the heavy weather we got off of
Cape Mendocino pretty well. We felt we needed to hand steer for one night
when it got really rough. The one thing I really didn't like about the boat
was the in-mast furling mainsail. Made reefing in rough conditions very
unfriendly.

This month's Blue Water Sailing has a favorable article concerning the
Caliber 47 LRC. I have not heard much of the Caliber, and I would
like to hear opinions as to how it compares to other boats,
specifically the Island Packet.
