I've heard a lot of crap about Mac 26Xs over the years, and when I
finally saw one at a show I wondered what all the fuss was about. OF
COURSE it's not a great sailboat, and it's probably only mediocre as a
powerboat, but it's better than a log with a sheet on a stick and no
doubt is perfectly adequate to the sort of daysailer/gunkholer who has
little time and calm, local waters.
After all, if you want a sailing experience, you can get a Shark for
5K, go out in 30 knots and bump your head on the way to the "waste
bucket".
I like Sharks and quarter-tonners as well, but I have no illusions
about them.
