Default Fogging a 5.0L MPI

You can simply use any gas can and stick a 3/8 in. siphon hose in it. Let me
ask you a question. How long will the mixture in the fuel filter remain in
the specified concentration after you start the engine? Keep in mind, you
don't have a first in first out situation here.

ok sure its not hard to do.. first of all this is my first I/O .. I have

had
outboard all my life til this year.
2nd .. mercs procedure says to use a remote fuel tank. What is this? and
whats wrong with putting the fog mixture in the filter as I asked. Also I
do not put this boat in salt. I am originally from Fla and salt water is

a
pain to me so I just dont bother especially with an I/O.

Just wondering if you had passed the window of opportunity to winterize.

In
NC it probably doesn't stay sub freezing, this time of year, long enough

to
crack heads or blocks, especially if there is still salt water in the
engine. Mercruiser's fogging procedure isn't that hard to do. It will

take
you 1 or two more minutes to do it right. Here's some other things you
should do.
REMOVE DRAIN PLUG
ADD GAS STABILIZER TO GAS TANK
ADD WATER ZORB TO GAS TANK
OIL AND FILTER CHANGE
CHANGE WATER SEPARATOR FILTER
CHANGE OTHER FUEL FILTERS
FOG ENGINE
(SWC)DRAIN ENGINE,MANIFOLDS, RISERS, AND POWER STEERING COOLER.
DRAIN BOTH SIDES OF WATER HEATER. REFILL WITH LOWTOX PERMANENT
ANTIFREEZE
(FWC)RUN ANTIFREEZE THROUGH EXHAUST SYSTEM. CHECK COOLANT PROTECTION
DRAIN AND CLEAN SEA STRAINER IF APPLICABLE
CLEAN FLAME ARRESTER
LOOSEN BELTS
REMOVE BATTERIES
SPRAY ENGINE FOR RUST PREVENTION
CHANGE STERN DRIVE GEAR OIL
REMOVE PROP
REMOVE STERN DRIVE
GREASE STEERING,GIMBAL HOUSING, AND U-JOINTS
REPLACE ZINCS

Where are you calling from Mark? Winterizing season came to a

screeching
halt today, here in Massachusetts.

I have a 2003 Merc I/O 5.0L MPI. The manuals say when fogging to

use
a
remote fuel tank connected to the intake hose. I talked with a

service
tech
where I got the boat and he said since I had planned on changing

the
water
seperating filter to just add enough fog mixture to fill the

filter
and
that
should do the trick to fog the engine. Will that work properly?

If
that
will suffice, how long do I keep the engine running?

Also, my plans are to change the oil and drain all the water and

leave
all
the tubes disc. as well. Is there anything else I need to do?
