Albacore details

As someone who has also raced Albacores it was not only nice to read so
much familiar detail but to recall the thrill of hiking out while keeping
the boat planing in a stiff breeze./// In "Dinghies for all Waters",
Eric Coleman strongly recommends a heavier, high freeboard, dingy for
crusing as a light responsive boat is too lively for relaxed crusing.

Which reminds me: though the Albacore was lively when sailed
single-handed in a fresh breeze or a chop, I recall that it was
quite possible to stray out of the harbor at Gibraltar's North Front,
into Algeciras Bay on a windy choppy breeze, with three aboard.
If only for a few minutes, without seriously contemplating a capsize.

Come to think of it, I never managed to capsize the Albacore there
nor at Tangier in lively winds. Loosing the main sheet promptly was
so effective.
