I've been researching installing a refrigeration system in my boat.
I've been looking at the WAECO Alder/Barbour RPD-190 refrigerator. Has
anyone had experience with this unit?
Also, It
only has 2 inches of insulation for the freezer, and 1 inch for the
refrigerator.
Would it be effective to build an insulated cabinet to install the unit
into?
I bought their portable CF 110 Coolmatic. It has 110 Litres of capacity and
runs on 120 VAC or 12 VDC. I used it on my boat for a while and it would
freeze every thing solid at level 4 out of 7 or beyond. I now keep it at
level 2 and it still forms ice crystals in some drinks. Since my boat is now
on the hard I keep it in my basement to keep drinks cool and it cycles on
about 10 % of the time. It has about 4 cm of insulation. I bought it because
I can use it either as a small chest freezer or a fridge on the boat. I am
amazed at the efficiency of it compared to my Norcold refrigerator.
