The problem with floating floors is the ability the flex excessively
whichleads to your cracking.
Adding mass to the floor to prevent this will
increase the weight quite substantially most solutions is to
place/replace the stringers/beams if you have access to the underside of
the floor, if not then my way would be to cut the floor out on the outer
edges, glass in a new lip for the floor to rest on around the edges.

While you have the floor out turn it upside down glass in some stringers
useing some cardboard tube cut in half layed on the underside(now the
top) once you have done that you can test it for strength while its out
of the boat if your happy with it add glass mat and resin to the lip
that you made in the cockpit and lower it back in pushing it firmly all
around the edges add some weight and bingo floors done.

The card board tube is for form not strenght so it can be as light as
you can find. Place it roughly every eighteen inches in a box pattern
across the underside of the floor with about 1/8 inch thick glassmat and
resin. don't forget to leave a little space around the edges for your
lip.The beuty of doing it this way is the floor looks original and with
a bit of care the seam/join around the edge can be faired in and painted
to hide any marks.

My daysail boat open cockpit (Tempest22) floor is making cracking
noise when I walk on it. There is small crack also.I patched the
crack with fiberglass cloth. Now I have to solve the problem to
prevent farther cracks. I 'm considering 2 options: Cover the
floor with playwood and fiberglass over- details like non skid
and glue between playwood and current flooring arise . Someone
recommended applying expendable foam to seal the playwood to
floor

Second option is to re fiberglass with cloth and several layers ,
and fill the space between hull and floor with expendable foam to
support the weight of the crew. I lean toward 2 option. please
share your suggestions
