Denison is 75 miles north of Dallas and in the Northeastern area of
Texas in Grayson County which borders Oklahoma. It is sometimes
called the Gateway City because it is the first city that you come to
when coming from the north. It is the 2nd largest city in the county
(the County Seat of Sherman which is south of Denison is the largest).
Denison is in a gently rolling and wooded terrain which stretches
northward to the shores of Lake Texoma and the Red River Valley.
Lake Texoma spans the Texas/Oklahoma border 121 miles south of
Oklahoma City. Part of it is a state park and there is also a
wildlife reserve. It is a sprawling lake and on the map it looks a
little like a dragon.
