NYOB,
It would be nice if Kerry discussed the specifics of his health plan,
without the details people will either assume it is a "free health plan"
for
all or a plan that will bankrupt businesses.

Chuck,
That wasn't me who posted that.
Nevertheless, Kerry's plan has one major flaw. He says that he's going to
allow small businesses to buy for their employees the same plan that's
available to members of Congress. He intends to help pay for this by
raising the taxes on those earning over $200k (which I suspect will be
closer to 1/3 of that when the plan is put into effect). *BUT*, he's going
to raise the personal income tax on tens of thousands of small business
owners who are S-Corps...which is tantamount to increasing the tax directly
on the small business. If you cut the health insurance premiums paid out by
small business, yet raise the taxes the businesses pay, then what net
benefit have you provided? None. Most businesses will do like I plan to
do...which is, drop the group plan so that I can use the money saved to pay
for my higher taxes.
He also talks about a tax credit of up to 50% for businesses which buy
insurance for their employees. Well isn't that grand of him, since we
already write off our employees health insurance premiums!
These are some of the reasons why pro-business groups like the NFIB give
Senator Kerry one of the lowest pro-business grades given to any elected
official. And Edwards is rated worse than Kerry!
