First two lines of the piece say all that needs be said. Kerry was a dead
issue last winter until Howard Dean imploded. Then Kerry's great attraction
was that he looked serious and he wasn't Dean. That propped him up until he
had won enough primaries to appear electable, and he has carried on from
there almost exclusively on the strength of the fact that he is *not* GWB.
Very little of Kerry's strength is innate.
