Bilge- There's a joke among us that a harbor pilot boards a container ship,
makes his respects to the Master, and soon into the course of conversation on
the bridge asks if they've seen much sail-powered traffic either on the way out
or on the way in.

The captain says:

The pilot replies:

And believe me that Annapolis on a nice Sunday is like a golf course fairway
compared to Shanghaii at 3 am. Gawd a'mighty...there's craft of every
description going every which way...dugout canoes, motor sampans, steam ferries
packed chock full o' Chinamen, 1200 foot long post Panamax containerships.

The mate told me that his radar plot looked like slow-motion cup of BBs tossed
into an empty bathtub...and that was just the stuff big enough to register a
return.
