It's a phrase, not a word: Une boîte du vin.

A box of wine?
My wife loves boxed wine, but I can't imagine the French being impressed
with it...
Just for the record, I don't partake of alcohol (person choice), but
my wife loves a glass or two in the evening.
She hates French wines for some reason.
... Is this related to the WWI thing where everybody
passed along a bottle until the last man?
Possibly.
I thought it was one word and started with a T?
Tontine. I'm not sure if it's French or Latinate Legalese.
One of the best episodes (imho of course) of TV M.A.S.H. is where Col.
Potter receives a bottle of fine French wine, a tontine from some of his
best WW1 buddies.
That's it!!!
Thank you Doug - you 'da man.
All the best,
Tom
