There's this Kiwi who runs a sporting guns shop in NZ. He goes to the US
regularly to buy sport rifles. Airport staff arrest him for not
declaring he's shipping guns (he said he did declare them).

So did he go to trail? Was he found guilty?

Charged,
he's advised to plea bargain -and gets 1 year in the slammer.

If your inoicent your should never plea bargain.

Just as
he's about to be released they ship him to Georgia who says he bought
the guns illegally -although he supplied his address, photo id, phone
number and bank account. Told he'd be wise to plea bargain -he does and
gets another year added to his jail sentence.

Showing your address and ID and Bank account number to an illegal arms
dealer does not make it legal to purchace weapons from them. And to
plea bargain twice when you know your not guilty and got screwed the
first time seems to be an un-wise way to act unless you are guilty.

He's about to be released
and INS now jump on the bandwagon. He's now an overstayer on his visa...
He tells them he would love to have left but they wouldn't let him.
Guess what, he's back in jail. This is what happens when a mindless
(vindictive) bureaucracy takes over. The federal Govt. would not release
him to serve time here... because he's such a danger to America????
(He's generally viewed as a good father (quite religeous) carrying out a
legitimate business and who only deals in sporting rifles -no handguns
no automatic stuff.) Of course he is an alien in the US...

A sad story indeed if true Nav. But for some reason I have the
feeling Im only getting one side of this story.
