That's what I thought. g If I unplug my fuel pump while it's running,
it
continues to run until it's fuel starved. That way, I know there's no
fuel
in the carb or cylinders. Treat what's left in the tank, and that's it.

you both misunderstand. if it is infact an mpi motor it will shutdown
exactly when you unplug the fuel pump. the fuel pump supplies the fuel
pressure that keeps the fuel rail primed for injector pulses, the
motor will shutdown when the electric fuel pump is disconnected.
contact your dealer and get a recipe for a pickle mix and run this
through your engine, no need to run anything dry. startup in the
spring will be harder then normal and smoke will be prevalent but it
will start and everything will be fine. your main concern is not fuel
conditioning however, it should be untreated cooling system drainage.
parts such as the exhaust manifolds, power steering oil cooler, the
pickup pump and lines all need to be drained to prevent freezing
damage. the raw water side of the heat exchanger is another item that
will freeze unless drained. another winterization tip, always store
your boat with the drive in the down position, this will prevent the
bellows from cracking and prolong the servicable life of the bellows.
