That was my thought also - most manfacuturers use 18" as a sort-of de
facto spec for props.
Couldn't say about jet wash, but now that I think about it, on bass
boats I've seen set up with jets, the transducers are located as far
away from the jet as you can get and still stay on the transom.
I'd like to see a picture of the installation.
