Newsweek changed their polling.... I wonder why

Poll Date... Repub....Dems....Indy....Men....Women
9/11/04........391........300......270......481....522
10/2/04........345........364......278......481....532

On 9/11/04 Newsweek Bush up 49-43.
On 10/2/04 Newsweek Kerry up 47-45.

Roughly........

In the first poll, Republicans outnumbered Democrats by 91.
In the second poll, Democrats outnumbered Republicans by 19.

The first looked like an oversampling of Republicans.
The second looked like a statistically insignificant vagary of polling.

What is encouraging is that Bush was so bad during the debate, and I
mean really bad, and that 60+ million Americans saw how inept he was.
That will stick in the minds of those who are barraged with spin
commercials from the GOP in the coming weeks.

He *was* pretty bad during the debate. Very bad. I was watching one of
the Gore-Bush debates on C-Span tonight and Bush had a fantastic grasp
of what was going on in Federal education.
Oh well.

Bush will do better this week, but...I don't think the issues this week
favor him.

The debate this coming week should be interesting. Bush has tremendous
weaknesses on domestic policy issues. About all he will be able to talk
about are tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. He has no plan or vision for the
future of this country, and no answers for the great challenges
confronting us.

I don't know what his answers are either, of course Kerry has no plan
except to weaken us in front of our enemies.

I have no idea what you mean by that.

Now, hopefully he'll be able to be a bit more articulate but the reality
is, he isn't very articulate.

True

And Kerry is.

True

In this troubling times, it helps to have an articulate POTUS.

It helps more to have one that is strong and doesn't pander to the
ever changing wind.

Stubborn isn't strong.

Oh ya, one that isn't a traitor.

Oh, puh-lease. That dog only hunts among the semi-literate.

We today have a president of the United States who looks like he is the
son of Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman, who isn't smarter than either of
them, who is arrogant about his ignorance, who is reckless and
incompetent, and whose backers are turning the United States into a pariah.

What, me worry?
